Council changes to housing allocation system
CORNWALL Council’s approach to allocating social and affordable homes in Cornwall is about to change, with a new policy and ‘applicant portal’ coming into operation from April.
To get ready for the reworking, the Council has already paused the weekly adverts and bidding cycles.
The housing register will be closed from 5.00 pm on Thursday, March 6, including for any new applications.
Any requests that are in the process of being assessed at the time of closure, will be prioritised for decision from April 1.
The allocations policy sets out who qualifies for an offer of accommodation. It applies to accommodation that Cornwall Council owns, as well as other affordable and social homes to which it has nominations rights.
