Ice-cream business talks of re-locating to Widegates
ALTHOUGH Morval Parish Council traditionally meets on the first Wednesday of the month, there will be no meeting on New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1).
The Council will, instead, convene next Wednesday (January 8) at the Village Hall, Widegates (7.00 pm).
Among items on the agenda will be a ‘pre-application’ planning item in which the long-established Gibson family business from Looe is seeking ‘advice’ from Cornwall Planners on a proposal to change the use of an agricultural shed near Hockey’s Field, off Lydcott Lane, Widegates, to an ice-cream manufacturing business.
The Gibsons currently supply some 49 wholesale customer outlets from rented premises at the Barbican Rise industrial estate, East Looe but are keen to own their own land.
The site was subject to another ‘pre-app’ last year (not connected with the Gibsons) for the erection of 34 residential dwellings.
As ever in planning matters, the Parish Council can make observations but the final say always rests with Cornwall Council.
