Last Parish Council meeting before May’s elections
THE next meeting of Morval Parish Council takes place at the Village Hall, Widegates at 7.00 pm on Wednesday (April 2).
Councillors, though, are expected to be present from 6.30 pm for the Morval Parish Play Park Focus Group meeting which will be confirming details for next Friday’s (April 4) official opening.
Items due for discussion at the full council include planning applications; details of the latest Speedwatch session through Widegates village, and concerns about low water pressure (Widegates) and this winter’s electricity outages across the parish.
Two planning applications have been received. Tudor Lodges are re-applying to change the use of seven holiday lodges to market dwellings at their base near the Snooty Fox, Morval, and the owners of Old Chapel Cottage at Sandplace Change want to alter the holiday let to residential use as an additional area to The Old Post Office.
While both applications will be viewed by parish councillors, as ever in planning matters, the final decisions rest with Cornwall Council.
Reports are also likely to be received from Police Community Support Officer David Billing and from Cornwall Council.
This will be the last meeting of the Parish Council before the elections on Thursday, May 1, and the agenda can be viewed here
Members of the public are invited to attend and while they cannot take part in the actual meeting itself, they can address councillors during a Public Participation session in the first 15 minutes of the meeting.
Each speaker gets a maximum of five minutes, although more can be allocated at the chairman’s discretion.
The official agenda for the monthly meetings always invites ‘members of the public to address the meeting in relation to the business to be carried out at the meeting’ but, in reality, almost anything topic can be raised.
Speakers do not have to give the chairman or the clerk pre-warning of what they will mention – although, of course, prior notice can be useful if a satisfactory outcome is to be swiftly achieved.
Anyone interested in speaking is also asked to notify the Clerk, Laura Storey (clerk@morvalparishcouncil.org.uk) beforehand as a matter of courtesy.
