Trying to reduce homeless numbers this Christmas

WITH the help of local landlords, Cornwall Council’s private letting service last year housed more than a dozen people who would otherwise have been homeless for Christmas.

The service is currently seeking additional properties to let to help people facing homelessness this Christmas, and wants to hear from anyone looking to let a property.

Cornwall Council’s private letting service has been operational since 2016 and currently manages more than 100 properties with an average tenancy length of three years.

The private letting service works with private landlords to help local people with a housing need. The service matches well-vetted suitable tenants to all properties to try to ensure a good, trouble-free and sustainable tenancy.

The service offers a full management or let only option. More details are on the County Council’s Private Letting service page (https://cornwall.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=8b22106188babc3bc72a50b07&id=afa21824b4&e=3420d0621c).

Anyone looking to let a property can also e-mail: infoprivatelets@cornwall.gov.uk or call Truro (01872) 324 342.
