Road closures; a Police surgery and commemorative D-Day 80 pin badges

COMMUNITY Police Support Officer (for Morval Parish) Dave Billing told Morval Parish councillors at their monthly meeting that the Looe Police Station ‘front office’ was now open to members of the public from 10.00 am until 3.00 pm, Thursdays to Saturdays.

He will also be holding a ‘Police Surgery’ at the Village Hall (Reading Room), Widegates, on Friday, February 16 (6.00 pm until 7.00 pm) when any members of the public can raise issues, or take part in a general discussion about policing.

PARISH councillors are expected to review their community grants policy at their February meeting in the Village Hall, Widegates, on Wednesday, February 7 (7.00 pm).

When the Council recently awarded a further £225 from its grant fund to St Wenna’s Parish Church at Morval, it was suggested that making annual payments towards churchyard maintenance was not in keeping with the ‘spirit’ of the policy.

Cornwall Councillor Armand Toms said that Looe Town Council made regular contributions to churchyard upkeep through their maintenance budget, and he wondered if that might be the way ahead for Morval parish.

A copy of the Parish Council’s current policy on grants can be viewed on the council’s website: https://www.morvalparishcouncil.org.uk/data/uploads/786_275497371.pdf
