Morval Parish Council

Play Park official opening next week

A MEETING of the Morval Parish Play Park Focus Group will be held at 6.30 pm next Wednesday (April 2) at the Village Hall, Widegates.

Anyone with an interest in seeing the play area develop, and continue to meet the needs of young people in the parish, is welcome to attend.

The Parish Council (whose monthly meeting follows at 7.00 pm) is responsible for this ‘management’ body (and is also represented on it) but those keen to help guide the facility in the years ahead are urged to come along and join what is essentially a ‘Friends of…’ organisation.

There is no financial commitment or obligation on any parents or individuals able to help, and it’s likely to involve only about three or four meetings a year, once up and running.

For more information, please e-mail the Clerk, Laura Storey, at: clerk@morvalparishcouncil.org.uk

The Play Park will be officially opened at 3.30 pm next Friday (April 4) when everyone is invited to attend. Pupils from Trenode CoE School can’t wait to be there!

Local businessman Richard Liddle (https://lydcottglampingcornwall.co.uk), although not a parish councillor, has been instrumental in helping the Parish Council get this long-awaited project over the line, and more recently he was the acting de facto works manager.

Earlier this week he led a party of 16 willing volunteers who helped plant up the playground bund.

It was particularly pleasing to see Velven Harding, whose family made available the land for the play area, and Samatha Pengelly, the former Parish Council clerk who did so much of the initial painstaking paperwork in obtaining the £125,000 Government grant, among the volunteers getting their hands dirty.

Said Mr Liddle: “More than 100 plants were planted including 13 trees. It looks great and will be awesome once it all grows in a bit. Proper job!”
