Morval Parish Council

Introducing the new Council clerk

AT the annual meeting of Morval Parish Council, held in the Village Hall, Widegates, Andy Jackson was re-elected chairman.

He thanked the outgoing clerk, Samantha Pengelly, who was retiring after three years’ service and welcomed the new clerk, Laura Storey.

Originally from Derbyshire, but now living in Looe, Laura has extensive experience and knowledge as a parish council clerk and financial officer for more than 14 years, having worked mainly in the East Midlands.

On moving to Cornwall she has continued her love of local government, being the clerk of both Dobwalls Parish Council and Polperro Community Council.

She has also had more than 25 years experience of financial management, and has knowledge of grant funding processes and Charity Commission projects.

Aside from her council duties, she admits to being ‘slightly’ animal mad, having four dogs and a cat, although at one point, while working for the RSPCA, she did have 13 pets!

She has also been a foster carer for more than ten years.

In accepting her role with Morval Parish Council, Laura said: “Every day is still a learning curve for me, trying to help parishioners with concerns they have, or pointing them in the right direction.”
